“THE OTHER SIDE OF SEVENTEEN”
What longings are harbored in the hearts of young women? What treasures are there to be revealed, discovered and awakened in the natural ‘becoming’ of a woman? I love the simplicity of youth seeking new adventures, freedom, testing limits, exploration. I love those who embrace the changing seasons of life. I love the vibrancy of the ‘in between’ – the shedding of the old and taking on the new. To me, it is a miracle to watch a person awaken – such that they see themselves differently and demand the whole world does as well.
I find it interesting that as children we grow into adult hood and ‘so called’ maturity only to spend our entire adult life seeking that which we had in the beginning – childlike qualities.

I bought 12/30 yesterday from Turpin Gallery. I am so in love with the piece and looking forward to it arriving after I return to Australia. I am inspired by it. Carolyn

Grateful for the kind words. The Otherside of Seventeen is a special piece. I find great joy in creating the softness and femininity of a piece with females.
